Jun 17, 09:30 AM - 11:30 AM (NZST)

A continuation of Te Whare Tapa Au, this online workshop provides a deeper space to explore, embrace, and define what hauora (wellbeing) looks and feels like for you. It centres around Mana Motuhake - the authority and independence to shape our own wellbeing - recognising the influence of our values, integrity, and choices in determining our health and balance.

We will revisit Te Whare Tapa Whā while considering a seasonal approach to hauora, reflecting on how different times in our lives bring new opportunities to pause, rejuvenate, and re-evaluate our wellbeing. Participants will:

  • Assess and reflect on what truly supports your hauora.
  • Revisit Te Whare Tapa Whā as a taonga (treasure) to help guide your wellbeing journey.
  • Explore self-determined wellbeing, recognising that the answers to our hauora lie within.
  • Understand the value of our resources and how they support our ongoing wellbeing.

Key discussion areas

  • We know ourselves; we know our hauora – trusting our own inner wisdom.
  • Reflection and re-evaluation – what served us yesterday may not serve us today.
  • The value of te taiao (nature) in our hauora – recognising the role of the environment in our wellbeing.
  • Kindness to self is goodness and part of our mana motuhake – honouring ourselves as we grow and change.

Our intention is to create and provide you with:

  • Ongoing awareness and reflection – understanding that our wellbeing is a continuous journey.
  • Stronger connection to self – recognising your own power in shaping your hauora.

This workshop offers a sacred space for deep reflection, self-empowerment, and realignment, helping you navigate and define wellbeing on your own terms. Part of the Hauora Ako series, which looks at wellbeing through a te ao Māori lens, it is presented in partnership with a subject matter expert and will be facilitated by Tuihana Ohia – read more about Tuihana here.

To get the most out of this workshop, participants need to have completed one of the two other workshops in the Hauora Ako series:

Te Whare Tapa Au (Self Discovery) offers a unique opportunity to explore a deeper understanding of holistic wellbeing from a te ao Māori perspective, beginning with us, ko au.

Te Whare Tapa Mahi (Workplace Discovery) is for leaders who would like to explore and apply a te ao Māori lens to improving the wellbeing of their teams.
